Privacy, in plain words
Goodword exists so you can ask the people you know instead of the internet. Here is what we keep and why.
What we store
- Your name, phone number, email if you gave one, one line about you, your home zip, and your date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or older).
- Your twelve: the names and numbers of people you invited, and who took a seat.
- Your asks, the vouches you put your name on, the intros that followed, and whether they worked out.
- If you are a pro: your business name, trades, service area, and a Stripe customer record. Card numbers never touch our servers; Stripe holds them.
- If you accepted payouts: a Stripe Connect account reference. Bank details stay with Stripe.
- If you ticked the text-message box: the exact wording you agreed to, the time, your number, your IP address and your browser, so we can prove consent.
- Sign-in codes (hashed, gone in ten minutes), sessions (hashed), and the devices you are signed in on.
- If you let an assistant ask for you: each question it asked, when, and what it cost.
What we do not do
- We do not text anyone who has not joined. Invites and asks leave from your own phone.
- We do not sell or share your contacts, your asks or your vouches with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not show your vouch to anyone except the person who asked. Health-related vouches are shown to the asker only, never on a pro's public standing.
- We do not keep a feed, follower counts, likes or streaks.
- A vouch is never anonymous. The person who asked always sees who vouched.
Who sees what
- The asker sees every vouch on their ask, with the voucher's name.
- A pro sees the asker's number only after accepting the intro, and sees the voucher's first name and reason.
- The voucher is told when the intro happens and whether it worked out.
- Your assistant, and only yours, can read vouches from people at your tables who have said assistants may ask them.
Texts
Peer texts come from your phone, not ours. If we ever text you from our own number, it is because you ticked the box at sign-up. Reply STOP to any such text and no ask from anyone on Goodword reaches that number again. Reply HELP for a one-line reminder of what this is.
Deleting your account
Tap "Delete my account" on your card. Your name, number, email, seats, consents and sessions are removed right away. Vouches you made stay on the record as "a former member", because the people who relied on them still need to know a real person stood behind them.
